Town Meeting members will assemble Oct. 21, for a special Town Meeting to consider 12 articles, most dealing with the town's budget.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m., in Town Hall.
Voters will be asked to reduce the school budget by $153,306, the same amount cut from state aid for schools in the state budget and replaced by federal stimulus money.
"There will be no affect on the school budget this year," said Superintendent of Schools Gus Sayer.
Another article asks for the police budget to be reduced by $30,000. "It will be absorbed through a reduction in some overtime shifts," said Police Chief David LaBrie. "Coverage and response time will remain basically the same," he said.
Less overtime will be needed this fiscal year because police officers no longer ride in ambulances to hospitals, he said, but some proactive programs, such as child car seat inspections and installations and radar patrols, might be cut back, said LaBrie.
Other actions voters will be asked to take include reducing the unemployment compensation line item by $95,000, spending $30,000 for two state Senate elections scheduled for later this fiscal year, adding $16,400 to the public works budget to cover the cost of negotiated raises, appropriating $15,000 for a wage and salary survey and adding about $11,500 for wage and merit pay increases by transferring funds in other accounts.
The formation of a Town Meeting Electronic Communication Advisory Committee will also be considered. The committee would be in charge of the electronic dissemination information about Town Meeting issues to members.
